FreeScan Trak ProW Tutorial - Calibration

Applicable Products:
FreeScan Trak Pro W

Overview:

Calibration is a critical process that ensures the FreeScan Trak ProW delivers accurate and consistent scan results. We highly recommend performing calibration weekly, especially if your workflow requires high-precision 3D scanning.

⚠️ Important: Before beginning calibration, make sure to warm up the UE Nova, and TE Nova until their internal temperatures stabilize. (about 35°C)

1. Trak Calibration

This is the first step in the process and consists of 90 calibration stages across three different calibration rod postures.

Steps:

  1. Begin calibration following software indication.

  2. Use the on-screen views to guide the calibration:

    • Left side shows the front view of the UE Nova and rod height.

    • Right side shows the top view and the distance between the UE Nova and the rod.

Calibration Rod Positions:

  • First 30 steps: Hold the calibration rod vertically.

  • Second 30 steps: Rotate the rod to a horizontal position.

  • Final 30 steps: Tilt the rod to the side as shown in the software.

Once all sets of 30 steps are complete, the UE Nova Trak calibration is finished.

2. System Calibration

After trak calibration, you can either begin scanning or proceed with system calibration to align the Scanner and Tracker.

Preparation:

  • Place the calibration board on a flat surface, with the markers facing the Tracker.

  • Adjust the Tracker tripod height for optimal marker visibility.

  • Ensure no markers on scanner are blocked during the process.

UI Guide:

  • The central ring graphic indicates the distance between the Scanner and calibration board.

  • The X and Y axes represent angular positioning.

  • You can also use your mouse to move view within the software helping you find the correct position.

Final Notes

  • Perform calibration regularly to maintain high scan accuracy.

  • Follow on-screen instructions carefully for each posture and stage.

  • Always ensure equipment is warmed up and stable before starting.
