When to use 3mm markers

  • 3mm markers are the minimum markers identified in the laser scan mode.  Not recommended to use 3mm markers alone. They only supplement 6 mm markers. Because of the 3mm smaller size, the scanning angle and distance are much smaller than 6mm markers.
  • For better accuracy, scan the 3mm markers along with the 6mm markers first then scan the point cloud.
  • Use 3mm markers on the edges and on small faces and around holes and groves
  • Supplement with 3mm markers when using single laser line
  • Supplement with 3mm markers when scanning small part that has complex geometry.
  • 3mm markers interval are smaller compared to 6mm and need to have at least 4 markers in the field of view
